John Lennon at Abbey Road Studios, March 30th 1967 - 'Light Leak' - 35x44"

As part of Herrmann's collection of Abbey Road photos of the Beatles this image was never printed by the photographer, deemed to have been underexposed and lay dormant in his collection for 30 years before being discovered. In the days of film, if light leaked onto the unexposed negative it created an orange or red glow, considered to have ruined the film. Nowadays, light leaks can be digitally manufactured to create a nostalgic, ethereal feel. What was once considered a mistake has now been elevated to fine art.

March 30th 1967 turned out to be a historic day in the Beatles calendar as following the recording session photographed here by Herrmann, they made their way to Michael Cooper's Flood Street studio to be photographed for one of the most famous album covers of all time, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

All prints are embossed with the photographers stamp, numbered and signed by the photographer Frank Herrmann in pencil on lower right margin.
